This is the policy page for the 8 Ball Pool Wiki (Wikipool). This page contains all the rules and guidelines of editing the wiki; it is strictly required that you read the every policy PRIOR TO engaging at this wiki, because you are liable to be penalized if these rules are broken. Sanctions may also be given without warning in extreme cases of violation against these policies, so we strongly oblige that you have a careful, detailed look through each of these rules before proceeding.
These rules are meant to be kept short and simple for user concerns. Please be aware that these policies go into rough detail and keep everything short and simple; if you are in need of assistance, contact an administrator.
General policies[]
- Vandalism is strictly prohibited. Vandalizing articles is never allowed on the 8 Ball Pool Wiki. This includes, but is not limited to: erasing large amounts of content from article pages (especially without providing an explanation as to why in the edit summary), adding false information to articles, uploading inappropriate images such as pornography, etc. New users who are not aware of the functions and aspects of editing who publish unnecessary edits is not considered vandalism. For more details about vandalism, visit Community Central's comprehensive help page regarding the subject.
- Spam is not tolerated. Spam is where users blatantly send or publish unnecessary or unsolicited messages, typically numerical digits or random letters. Doing this multiple times will result in an administrative punishment such as a block.
- Referencing vulgar subjects like drugs or alcohol, sex, violence, political beliefs, or other things is not tolerated. We prohibit any use of vulgar or inappropriate topics with anyone who feels uncomfortable when associated with those subjects. Doing this in article spaces or on users' message walls is not permitted.
- Swearing and cursing is not permitted. This includes cuss words like "ass" or "piss", and should not be used under any circumstances whatsoever.
- Do not disrupt discussions or projects. Discussions and projects are intended solely for the improvement throughout the wiki, and disrupting these things is very counterproductive and impractical, yet even annoying.
- Do not advertise. Advertising is a common and typical form of spam; as mentioned above, spam is not tolerated.
Content policies[]
- Off-topic content is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: other Miniclip games that have no relation to 8 Ball Pool, YouTube videos not about 8 Ball Pool, topics from other wikis (e.g. agar.io, slither.io, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc.) or any other content that is not relevant to 8 Ball Pool.
- Add appropriate filenames. Whenever uploading an image, you must always add an appropriate and suitable filename, especially if it is content-exclusive. All userpage filenames should not have content filenames; content filenames should be like "File:Beginner Cue.png" or "File:Archangel Cue.jpg". Userpage filenames must begin with "Userpage", so, for example, "File:Userpage cue" would be acceptable.
- Future content - articles with speculation are classified as candidates for deletion. If you hear about any sort of future update, write about it with caution; if you are given a short piece of information, let the entire community know about this update and decide together. If you have enough information, you may proceed and dive into your article. But always remember to cite your information. See Community Central's guide for more details.
- Know what you're doing. It is strongly recommended that 100% of the time you are aware of the conflicts editing can promote. Controversial edits (otherwise dubbed as disputed edits) easily grasp attention and can potentially cause turmoil; make sure you know how to edit correctly. Ask for assistance if you don't know how to do something. If help here is unhelpful or simply not what you're looking for, visit Community Central to learn more information. You are 100% guaranteed to find what you need over there!
- Fanon and guides - Fanon and guides were originally strictly prohibited, but due to the changes as of October 13, 2015, fanon and guides are now permitted, but the only policies regarding the subject are that they begin with "Fanon:" or "Guides:", so that we know the article isn't official content. Fanon or guide articles cannot be stubs either, or classified as a stub, otherwise they will be deleted. Message an administrator if you want your page protected from deletion if you are going on holiday, etc. Use the Do not edit template if you wish for your article to be edited only by you.
- English language policy - Please note that all content on this wiki should be written in English. Any dialect of English (American, Australian, British, etc.) is welcome.
- Be bold. Stand out. Interest your readers. Add trivial points. Entice the reader in with your vocabulary; please take a look at the sample sentence below and see how it is changed:
Before | After |
---|---|
She holds a calculator. | She possesses a contraption of some sort - likely to be a calculator - which serves to hint at her mathematical potency and intelligent disposition. |
See the difference? Which one makes you want to read on more? Remember that this is an encyclopedia, but we like to have interesting articles.
User policies[]
- Always assume good faith. Unless there is conclusive evidence to the contrary, always assume that an editor's actions were an attempt to improve the wiki.
- The same rules apply in chat. Mild language, vulgar topics, spam, disruption and advertising is not allowed in the chat. Private Messages (PM) with others are not usually monitored; talk to someone you know can handle topics that can be seen as uncomfortable. If someone is upsetting you in PM, please forward the message in question and report it to admins or chat moderators; admins and chat moderators cannot see your Private Messages.
- Do not delete discussions. Do not delete previous discussions. These include user talk pages, including your own messages on your own talk page.
- *DO NOT edit other people's userpages! It is NOT EVER allowed to edit others' userpages in any form whatsoever, even if it includes fixing typos, punctuations, or any grammatical errors!
- Don't "feed the trolls". Do not antagonize trolls under any circumstances. It may worsen the situation.
- Use common sense. Don't interpret policies and editors word-for-word.
- Treat users with respect. Be nice and don't try to cause unnecessary strife.
- Vandalizing articles - Vandalism is NEVER allowed on this wiki. If you vandalize articles consecutively, you will be blocked from editing this wiki.
Blocking Policy[]
Blocking is the means by which an administrator prevents a user account and/or IP address/range from editing the wiki. Blocked users and IP addresses can read the content on this wiki, but cannot edit any pages other than their own talk page, unless editing their own talk page has also been disabled. Blocked users are also prevented from moving pages or uploading files, and cannot partake in the discussions community. The length of the block depends on the continuation or severity of violation of the policies.
