Chat Packs

Chat Packs are small messages which players use to communicate within 8 Ball Pool when engaging in 1-on-1 matches. Chat Packs are purchased using Pool Coins and Pool Cash and prices elevate when the selection screen for Chat Packs is scrolled to the right. They were added to the game on April 25, 2014.

The most expensive chat pack is the "Competitive" chat pack which comes in a set of six messages and costs one hundred thousand pool coins, with the cheapest being the "Rematch" chat pack, which features four messages and costs one thousand pool coins. In terms of pool cash, however, the most expensive are between the "Governator", "Passive Aggressive", "Exclamation!", "Brag" and "Taunt" chat packs, each costing twenty-five pool cash; the cheapest is the "Talk" chat pack, a typical set of six messages which costs five pool cash.

Players can move their chat messages with the "Chat Order" tool that appears to the top left of each Chat Packs window; they can additionally hide messages at their disposal. On the tool, the player must press and hold the "Move" icon. Chat messages range from being rambunctious, abrupt and boisterous to enthusiastic, effervescent and adequate.

Controversy

Miniclip has attempted to prohibit the use of swearing in-game and, because of this, they have prevented the use of a free chat for the game, as swearing could disturb players and discourage to play the game. As such, Miniclip has not promised the use of a free chat and they are likely not to; this has been highly debated and has arisen controversy. On 8 Ball Pool's Facebook fan page, numerous comments have been sent begging for a free chat; several forum threads have also been created regarding the subject.
